E.Perrin Fils, French violin, c.1825

This is a typical example of the Perrin workshop having fairly flat arching and a nicely figured, one-piece maple back plate, similar ribs and slow growth pine for the top. Now at just on 200 years old, structurally sound and still going strong, it punches well above its weight for playability and sound production.

Etienne Perrin was one of a family of violin makers in Mirecourt, in the Vosges region of France. This violin is loosely based on Stradivarian principles but with the maker’s individual touches showing through. These violins were commonly branded internally as being made in Paris, a marketing technique much used throughout the provinces.

This is a super sounding violin in its price range and would suit the advancing student or dedicated amateur player. It is fitted up to our ‘Master’ set-up with Evah Pirazzi strings.
